This proprietary training program prepares Helping Hearts At Home companions to provide safe, respectful, and person-centered support to clients living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. It explains how dementia affects memory, communication, behavior, daily routines, and safety, while helping companions respond calmly to changing needs at home or in assisted living. Participants will learn practical approaches for building trust, supporting independence, communicating with families, documenting concerns, and knowing when to report changes to a supervisor or seek emergency help. The program is designed for non-medical companion care and reinforces each client’s individual care plan, dignity, comfort, and quality of life.
